Megan Rapinoe is one of the most insufferable athletes on the planet.

Amongst other things, she has knelt for the national anthem before soccer matches, and has repeatedly painted America as the worst country to live in. She also advocated for men to be able to compete in women’s sports, and spearheaded a petition effort  that asked for congress to stop a bill that would protect women’s sports from being passed (it didn’t work).

Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Alabama) is disgusted by Rapinoe’s support for transgenders in women’s sports. He also found it convenient that Rapinoe is being so adamant about this issue as the U.S. women’s national team (USWNT) star is approaching the twilight of her career, meaning she wouldn’t face the consequences of this potential scenario for long.

Tuberville even argued that if transgender women (who are still men) had been allowed to compete in women’s sports earlier, Rapinoe would have had a very short-lived career.

“The problem is she’s now voicing her opinion that, ‘Hey, trans boys should be able to compete against women,’” Tuberville said. “Well, if that had happened during her career, she’d have been working at Safeway or Piggly Wiggly.”

He’s not wrong! Men would make women irrelevant if they were allowed to compete with each other in soccer. Rapinoe of all people should know that.

In 2017, the women’s national team was preparing for a friendly against Russia by scrimmaging against FC Dallas, a U-15 boy’s team. It was just a scrimmage and reports suggest the USWNT wasn’t trying as hard, but surely Olympic-level athletes like Rapinoe could handle a bunch of teenagers who weren't old enough to get their licenses, right?

Not exactly. The boys trounced Rapinoe and her teammates 5-2.

Imagine if American soccer greats like Cristian Pulisic, Landon Donovan, and Clint Dempsey were allowed to compete in women’s soccer at any level during their illustrious careers. That would be the end of women’s soccer, and yet Rapinoe is advocating for this very scenario.

But if it makes here relevant, Rapinoe will keep doing it, regardless of how illogical it is.
