Romney: There’s Good Reason to Believe There’s a ‘Bombshell’ in Trump's Taxes

Mitt Romney told Neil Cavuto on Wednesday’s “Your World” that while Trump has “the clearest path” to the GOP nomination, he still wants a peek into Trump’s back taxes from the last several years.

"We have good reason to believe that there is a bombshell in Donald Trump's taxes," Romney said.

He explained ooking into these records could show whether or not Trump is as wealthy as he says, he is or if he pays as much taxes as would be expected of a man of such affluence. Romney even questions whether Trump was telling the truth about his donations to veterans.

This isn’t the first time Trump’s donations have been called into question. While ducking out of a presidential debate in January, Trump held a charity event to raise money for the veterans. He devoted a special website to fundraising, on which he claimed, “100% of your donations will go directly to Veteran needs.”

But the disclosure at the bottom of the website reveals the donations instead went directly to the Donald J. Trump Foundation, Trump’s personal non-profit foundation that has donated more to the Clintons than it has U.S. veterans.

Romney suspects this “bombshell” due to Trump’s consistent delaying in the release of his back taxes.

"We're now, you know, in late February and we still haven't seen either Donald Trump's or Marco Rubio's or Ted Cruz's taxes," Romney said. "Frankly, the voters have a right to see those tax returns before they decide who our nominee ought to be.”

"People have a right to know if there's a problem in those taxes before they decide."
