Young Golfer Who Just Won ‘The Masters’ Creates a Charity in Honor of Special Needs Sister

If you are a fan of golfing, you may already know who Jordan Spieth is. You may even be a fan of his. He has proven himself among his peers as a 21-year-old who recently won The Masters tournament at 18-under-par, and raked in a whopping 1.8 million with that win alone. But that isn’t the most impressive thing about him.

Already, Spieth has gained a reputation of humility and temperance among many of his older competitors. But wait until you hear his reason why.

Spieth has a younger sister named Ellie. Ellie is 14-years-old and she was born with neurological challenges, and Spieth says that she is a constant source for inspiration:

“I’m her biggest fan, and she’s my biggest fan. Mentally, she’s learning to do new things and it really is something that’s incredible. Something I wish a lot of people had the chance to experience. And, maybe they can through this event and through the Spieth Family Foundation.”

The Spieth Family Foundation is dedicated to three areas of concern: special needs children, military families, and junior golf.

It’s amazing to find a young talent that has come onto the scene with such a clear mind and golden heart. While many slate him as a rising star in the golf community, it’s what he says during one of his first charity events that’s the most telling.

“This is a dream come true for me. For me, I’m a professional golfer. But, what I do on the course, I want to be secondary to what I do off the course. That’s why we’re starting this so early,” Spieth says.
