Two days after Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin suffered an apparent Commotio Cordis and needed to be resuscitated on the field, for which he was still in the ICU, The View’s ghoul, Joy Behar decided it was appropriate to use the segment (and concussions) to take a swipe at conservatives and “heterosexual men” by suggesting they had brain damage because they played football as children and young adults.
As they were going around the table to discuss Hamlin’s ongoing medical struggles and how some of them, as moms, wouldn’t let their kids play football, co-host Sunny Hostin recalled her son’s football injury in school. According to Hostin, her son suffered a hamstring injury and required six months of physical theory. This apparently got him thinking about possibly receiving a head injury and he made the difficult decision to quit the sport.
This story about a fear of brain injuries piqued Behar's interest and she proceeded to read off a bunch of unsourced statistics about who supported youth football.
